A SPATE of lead thefts across the borough has sparked a hunt for the culprits.

Between February 12 and February 27, there have been five incidents of lead being stolen from house roofs across Chiswick, Feltham and Isleworth, with many victims not even noticing until their roof started leaking.

At Loretta Wharf in Strand on The Green, lead worth around £1,500 was stolen from a house that was being renovated.

The other Chiswick property that was targeted was in Gainsborough Road, where lead worth around £200 was taken.

Lead with a value of around £1,500 was also stolen from two flats in Thornbury Court, Church Road, Isleworth and two homes in Spring Corner, Feltham High Street, had lead worth £300 stolen.

A Police spokesman said: "These thieves cause a lot of damage to the roof and the distressed victims have to deal with subsequent expense of repairing the damage.

"I would urge anyone who has any information to contact Hounslow Police Station CID on 0208 247 6160/5940 or anonymously to CrimeStoppers on 0800 555111.”
