FEATHERSTONE High School put the spice into science on Monday night.
A team of experts entertained pupils, teachers and parents at the school in Southall, by explaining and demonstrating the science behind curry.
The event was part of a national campaign orchestrated in association with the British Pharmacological Society.
A team of scientists answered curry-related questions, such as "why does cutting onions makes me cry" and "why is chilli hot?"
Scientists also explained the health benefits behind curry ingredients like turmeric, chilli and garlic, and were on hand to discuss careers in science with pupils and parents. There were also cookery sessions and demonstrations.
Headteacher Gerry Wadwa said: "We were really pleased to help the campaign to pilot the ‘Science of Curry tour’. The show got staff and students alike genuinely excited about science, by posing simple questions about curry and then showing how science has the answers.”
