Teachers at an autistic school in Southall have been striking today.

A picket line was formed outside Sybil Elgar just after 8am this morning, as NUT members took action in an ongoing dispute with the National Autistic Society (NAS) over contracts.

A second day of strikes was also planned for tomorrow.

An NAS spokesperson said: "Some NASUWT and NUT members at the Sybil Elgar School are taking industrial action following a recent terms and conditions review at the NAS. Our main concern is the wellbeing of the students and we have worked to lessen the action’s impact on them and their families.

"We remain in dialogue with staff and their union representatives and hope that the issues are swiftly resolved."
