TWO children at Earlsmead First and Middle School caught mild swine flu, the Observer can reveal.

They were diagnosed a week ago with the contagious virus - which originated in pigs in Mexico -  and have made a full recovery while being kept home from school.

Officials from the Health Protection Agency (HPA) visited the school in Arundel Drive, South Harrow, but did not order the school to be closed.

By June 17 the HPA has confirmed a total of 195 cases of swine flu in London and 1,582.to date in the whole of the UK.

Councillor Anjana Patel (Conservative), Harrow Council's portfolio holder for schools and children's services, said: "The council can confirm two pupils have developed very mild symptoms which have now been identified as swine flu. These pupils have been recovering at home over the last week.

"The school remains open under the advice of the Health Protection Agency, which states in its guidelines that anyone showing flu symptoms should stay at home until better."
