Police officers braved the falling snow to keep their presence felt on the streets and help keep the roads safe.
With many residents taking the day off as travel chaos prevented them from making it in, police staff did not have that option and battled the elements to continue their duties.
Superintendent Iestyn Prosser of Hillingdon Police said: "For us its a more difficult day,but the commitment of our staff has been outstanding; we have a complete quota of officers out.
"So far the demand has been lower than normal. This is because less people are going out, and less people can get to
He said that although the upkeep of the roads is not strictly a police responsibility, they have been keeping on top of the situation and helping out where needed.
"We have been keeping in touch throughout the day with the emergency planning department.
"Ordinarily there is an expectation of more traffic accidents but so far there has been nothing too serious.
"My main area of concern is planning ahead over the next 16-18 hours and making sure we have enough officers out.
"We just have to battle in: people are depending on us."
