A MAN who was discovered carrying a snooker ball in a sock as an offensive weapon has escaped with a suspended prison sentence.

Ben Sheldon, 25, of Windsor Avenue, Hillingdon, was given a 12 week prison sentence suspended for two years.

He was ordered by Uxbridge Magistrates Court to complete 120 hours of community service and pay £70 in costs.

Sheldon had pleaded guilty to being in possession of the weapon on November 1 last year in Orchard Drive, Cowley.

The snooker ball and the sock have been ordered to be destroyed.
