A CORN snake, pygmy hedgehog, and white's tree frog were some of the unusual animals entered into the first pet show at the Hounslow Urban Farm.

However, downpours affected the fundraising event last week which saw a less than anticipated 100 people turn up including dozens pets and their owners.

About 40 dogs took part in the dog show and 20 small animals in the pet show, on Monday, May 25.

The overall winner in the pets category was a Siamese cat and for the dogs Buddie the Rottweiler.

Lisa Bennett who runs dog walking and pet care company Emprets and Empraws in Bedfont teamed up with the farm on Faggs Road in Feltham to put on the event.

Ms Bennett said: "The show was really good and went really well. The rain put a lot of people off coming but everyone who turned up enjoyed themselves."

The farm will host a second dog and pet show in October during the weekend celebrations for the Festival of Fishkeeping, which was also held at the farm last year.

All funds from events held at the farm are put towards building a Tropical Zoo rescue centre for animals and centre for education conservation for children.

The charity music festival held during the first May Bank Holiday helped raise £9,000 towards the cause.
