A COOK who makes mealtimes a joy at a Pimlico care home was honoured for her efforts.
Sally Siafa, 53, who works at Norton House care home in Arneway Street, was crowned caterer of the year at the southern final of Anchor Trust's Care Services Awards.
Judges commended Ms Siafa for her sunny disposition and the nutritious and enjoyable food she delivers.
Care assistant Shamim Cassim said: "Sally is a hard-working and considerate catering assistant, always making sure residents are happy with the quality and variety of food available.
"She goes out of her way to cater to individual
needs, recognising the importance of a tailored menu as well as the vital social interaction mealtimes offer."
Receiving her award, on Wednesday last week, Sally said: "Mealtimes are so important, providing food for the body and for the soul.
"We try to make them special occasions with enjoyable food and encourage our residents to meet up and talk.
"There is such a great atmosphere at Norton House. All the staff are so supportive and everybody is always laughing and joking together.
"It means I can't help singing while I'm preparing the meals."
Ms Siafa will now attend a ceremony at the British Academy of Film and Television Arts, in Piccadilly, West End, on July 15, where the national winners will be announced. ..SUPL:
