A SHOPKEEPER who says it with flowers is the latest nomination for our Customer Service Awards.

John Cradduck, 24, is a familiar face in Uxbridge town centre where he runs the flower stall which stands outside the Tube station.

Rarely seen without his trademark cap, Mr Cradduck is continuing his family’s long-standing association with Uxbridge, and this year was handed the reigns full time by his father Glyn.

He said: “I got into flower selling when I was about 12, helping out my dad before and after school and in the holidays.

“I had dreams about being all sorts of things when I was growing up but you know what it’s like when you’re young, you change your mind all the time.

“Eventually I realised I was happiest doing this and I’ve stuck with it ever since.”

Mr Cradduck and his staff gamely assemble their stall come rain or shine.

He said: “I enjoy every single day of my work. I love being outdoors when the weather’s fine and even when we have ups and downs I never get tired of doing what I do.

“This is a great trade and I love meeting all the new people and stopping for a chat.

“I don’t really have a special approach to selling, I just treat customers as I would want to be treated.

“Customer service is the biggest part of what we do; if you are polite to people they will become your loyal customers.

“Finding out about this nomination has made me very pleased and I fully intend to keep on whether I win or not.
