Passengers were left to swelter in District Line trains this morning after a signal failure at East Putney.

Transport for London (TfL) reported severe delays between Earl's Court and Wimbledon while engineers worked on the problem. As of 11pm progress had been made and the delays were being described as minor.

This situation this morning follows a faulty train at the same station saw the line suspended on Monday.

Meanwhile the closure of Putney Bridge is causing problems for motorists. Although there was some good travel news yesterday when TfL announced further weekend closures at Hammersmith Flyover are no longer needed.
