I READ Cllr Bowen's response to Colin Ellar in the edition of January 8 regarding the proposed new siting of the Skills Centre.

It appears that Cllr Bowen also has missed some 'crucial' points in this matter:

1. The existing Boundaries Road site is purpose-built and ideal for any expansion along the lines suggested. Any objection to this must be the result of local residents' concerns over increased numbers using the site, but these are negligible and so largely unfounded.

2. The traffic problems will most certainly increase on the High Street with post 17-year-old students using cars on the site, along with additional pedestrian traffic at peak times. For safety reasons, is this wise?

3. Cllr Bowen talks of Colin Ellar being so 'proud of'the town centre redevelopment. Prior to these changes Feltham town centre had become rundown and an area of declining economic activity, even a no-go area for some residents. Former residents returning to visit the area have commented to me how astonished they are by the improvements and the positive atmo-sphere you experience when shopping or just walking among the shops and cafes.

The previous administration deserves some credit for these achievements and as a Feltham member perhaps Cllr Bowen should share that pride.
