BONZO the Clown is the unlikely star of a short film about addiction, shot in Isleworth.

Clowning Around, which tells the tale of his descent into alcoholism, was filmed in Linkfield Road last Saturday (October 15).

The makers of the film, funded by visitors to the independent movie site Indiegogo.com, chose to base the story around a children's entertainer to make it 'less heavy' and more 'approachable' than other films about addiction.

Producer Leilani Holmes said she felt the picturesque setting of Linkfield Road represented Bonzo's position as a respected community figure before his life spirals out of control.

"We hope at some point we'll bring the film back to Hounslow and be able to screen it for the people there. It was a particularly nice place to work and the local community made us extremely welcome," she added.

The makers of the 15-minute film - starring David Schaal, of The Office and Inbetweeners fame - hope to secure screenings at film festivals across the world.
