A CHARITY for people with learning disabilities is the first winner of Feltham ASDA's new scheme to support good causes in the area.

Hounslow West Mencap was awarded £200 by supermarket bosses last Friday (June 22) after being chosen by customers.

Shoppers at the branch, in Tilley Road, were asked to choose between three good causes by dropping tokens into the relevant bucket - a similar scheme to that already run by Waitrose.

Hounslow West Mencap earned the most tokens, with runners-up Feltham Arts Association and Victoria Junior School both receiving £50.

The three new causes customers are being asked to support are: Marjory Kinnon School, Bedfont; Southville Community Centre, Bedfont; and a campaign to help three-year-old Mollie Matthews, who has cancer.
