AN UXBRIDGE shopkeeper is recovering after two youths threatened him with a knife in order to grab his takings.
The attempted robbery happened at 7pm last night (Tuesday) at The News Hut, in Rockingham Road, but the teenage yobs were deterred after the shop owner grabbed a metal bar from behind the till to scare them off.
Habinder Ubhi, 53, said: "Two youths put a knife to my face and said 'give us your money', I reached for the bar and they ran out.
"Their faces were covered but they must have been about 18 or 19.
"The problem is getting worse, only last November my till was taken in the middle of the day.
"It is the second time something like this has happened in 25 years, it is a real problem all these kids on drugs with no jobs.
"Police officers came down and they were here for over an hour and a helicopter was out searching for them last night, forensic teams also came down to take what evidence they could."
