A COMMUNAL garden room which was vandalised two years ago has been reopened after a free refurbishment.

Residents at Goldhawk House, Shepherd’s Bush, can now enjoy coffee mornings and tea parties in the newly redecorated room. Maintenance specialist Lovell organised the £1,300 work free of charge.

The sheltered housing block, in Goldhawk Road, is managed by Notting Hill Housing volunteer network and provides 20 one-bedroom flats for the elderly from African-Caribbean and Asian communities.

Mandy Worster, volunteer network co-ordinator at Notting Hill Housing, said: “The partnership between Lovell and our volunteer network has proved to be a significant in the provision to our residents in supported housing, allowing us to develop some innovative projects.”
