Councillor Sharma's request for a cut in council tax last week appears to be well intentioned but unfortunately it is not.
Not so long ago he was using the race card against the current administration, that failed so he has turned his attention to the beloved council tax. All the time that Labour controlled Hounslow not once did they reduce the rates/council tax, or even freeze them.
When the Labour-controlled council proposed a 400 per cent increase in allowances, Cllr Sharma was there in full support - no thought for the hard-pressed council tax payers then.
Perhaps as we are, in Cllr Sharma's words, heading for a 'tough winter and a credit crunch' he would consider giving up his £12,473 plus allowances and calling on his Labour colleagues to do the same. I'm sure his current pensions are adequate. It is possible this may help to keep the council tax at the present level.
Come on Cllr Sharma, show your commitment to the people of Hounslow, you have done well over the years and you may even shame our two local MPs into some magnanimous gesture regarding allowances claimed by them.
