Vulnerable elderly people were targeted by crooks in Shepherd's Bush in two separate incidents - and police want witnesses to help them solve the callous crimes.

Last Friday (October 21), a 76-year-old woman suffered a fractured hip after being robbed near the Malvern Court sheltered housing complex in Landor Walk.

She was walking with a friend when two men approached them and snatched the victim's red leather purse, shoving her to the ground.

One suspect was white and the other black, while both were wearing dark hooded tops. A red leather purse was stolen.

In a separate crime which happened at about 2pm on August 31, detectives need witnesses to come forward to help them solve a distraction burglary in a flat in Poynter House on the Edward Woods Estate.

The victim, an 83-year-old female occupant allowed a man inside her seventh-floor flat after he claimed he had come to read her electricity meter.

The man asked her to fetch him an old bill and stole a number of items from her handbag while she was out of the room.

The suspect is described as a black, light-skinned man, aged about 25, 6ft tall, of slim build with short dark coloured hair and wearing a dark blue bomber jacket with blue jeans.
