DETECTIVES investigating the murder of a man in Southall have made a seventh arrest.

The man, aged 28, is currently in custody at a west London police station. Of the six men arrested previously, two aged 22 and aged 25 respectively, have been bailed pending further enquiries to August 31. The other four remain in custody.

Police were called to Southall Park at 9pm on Monday night following reports of a large group of men fighting. Shortly afterwards officers found a man, aged 23 and believed to be an Indian national, in nearby Green Drive with a head wound.

London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance were also called to the scene but the man was pronounced dead at the scene at 21.57.

A post mortem examination took place on August 27 at Uxbridge Mortuary and gave cause of death as a single stab wound to the neck.

Officers believe they know the identity of the deceased and enquiries continue to trace next of kin.

A 25-year-old man was found in Knowsley Avenue with a stab wound to the armpit.

He was taken to a central London hospital and was discharged but has since been arrested and is in custody.

A third man, aged 32 was found in the park with a stab wound to the arm. He was taken to hospital and discharged but also arrested and is now in custody.

A crime scene remains in place and enquiries continue.

Detective Chief Inspector Russell Taylor of the Homicide and Serious Crime Command leading the investigation said: "This was a large fight at a fairground in Southall Park and many people would have witnessed the attack as well as the aftermath.

"I would urge those people to contact officers so that we can piece together the events that lead up to this murder.
