Suspected illegal immigrants were arrested in raids on two freight warehouses.

Border Agency officers visited Pauls Freight Services, in Southall, and H&M Freight, in Feltham, last Monday, and arrested five Indian and one Sri Lankan for suspected immigration offences.

Following the raids, searches of several houses in Hayes, Southall and Heston resulted in 11 more arrests.

Two people are in detention ready for removal from the UK. The rest were bailed while travel documents are prepared.

John Lang, assistant director of the UK Border Agency, said: "We hope that these operations send out a serious message to employers in the Heathrow area."
