A serious accident which has strewn debris all over the road in Barnes has closed Hammersmith Bridge.
Several police cars and an ambulance are at the scene in Castelnau near the junction with Lonsdale Road where a dark coloured car is badly damaged.
Debris is covering an extensive section of the road which has been closed off from Rocks Lane all the way to the other side of Hammersmith Bridge.
Traffic is backing up around the Hammersmith gyratory due to the closure and bus routes 33, 72, 209, 283 and 485 are being diverted.
At the moment there is no indication as to what caused the crash and if there are any injuries.
Lots of people have been tweeting about the incident, including @Matt_KT24 who tweeted a Vine video of the crash scene.
