TRAFFIC in Stanmore is still being disrupted by a burst water main on Brookshill.

Police closed the road in both directions yesterday morning, and it is now running with one lane open.

Veolia Water issued a statement saying: "We apologise to motorists affected by a 14” burst main on Brooks Hill yesterday. The burst occurred yesterday morning and for safety reasons had to be closed. As the repair took place we were able to open one side of the road at around 2pm. The repair itself was completed by around 4pm.

Approximately 80 square meters of the carriageway and footpath are being reinstated today and we expect to be able to fully open the road before 5pm this evening.”

The council are co-ordinating traffic management.
