THE HUNT is on for people born on the day of Elizabeth II’s accession to play a special role in her diamond jubilee celebrations.

Hounslow Mayor Amrit Mann wants to hear from anyone born on February 6, 1952, the day the queen came to the throne.

They will play a key part in helping the borough celebrate her diamond jubilee in style during the long weekend of June 2-5.

Although Queen Elizabeth II came to the throne on February 6, 1952, her coronation did not take place until June 2 the following year.

Events being held to celebrate her 60 years of rule include a huge pageant on the Thames and the lighting of thousands of beacons across the globe.

Hounslow Council is waiving the usual £25 application charge for people planning street parties during the diamond jubilee weekend.
