ABOUT 300 customers were left without power in the early hours of Sunday.

Scottish and Southern Electric said an underground cable fault at 12.21am cut power to 2,000 homes, but that within a minute all but 300 had the power restored by the system backup.

Forty minutes later the number of homes, in the Gresham Road and Long Lane areas of Hillingdon, that were without power was down to 100, with the rest restored by 3.30am.
The company has apologised.
