At least three schools in Harrow were forced to turn students away this morning after a power surge left them with no heating.

Hatch End High School and Shaftesbury High School, in Headstone Lane, and St Theresa's School, in Long Elmes, took the decision to close early after complications with the supply from a power plant based on the adjacent road, Long Elmes.

It is unclear yet if the schools will be reopened tomorrow.
