MOST schools in Hounslow remain open today, despite the heavy snowfall on Sunday.

St Michael & St Martin Catholic Primary School, in Hounslow, is the only school in the borough to have closed, to the Chronicle's knowledge.

A number of schools opened late this morning, including Brentford School for Girls and Feltham Community College. It is not yet known whether any plan to close early, as happened last Friday.

Several inches of snow fell in parts of London yesterday and a yellow weather warning remains in place today, with the Met Office warning people to beware of the icy conditions.

Rubbish collections are taking place as normal across the borough today, according to Hounslow Council.

Gritters have been out over the weekend and today but some people have complained about the lack of gritting in certain areas.

Angry parents took to Twitter this morning to complain that a bridge near Strand on the Junior School had not been cleared and was a potential hazard.

Hounslow Highways, which is responsible for roads and pavements in the borough, has said it is impossible to grit the entire network but is prioritising essential routes.

Parents are advised to check school websites to see if there are any plans to close early.
