A schoolgirl has seen her artwork displayed on buses used by fellow pupils.

Youngsters at Alexandra Junior School, in Hounslow, were challenged to design an advert celebrating Transport for London's 'Year of the Bus'.

Taffisha Morris's winning creation has now been plastered on two 111 buses, which travel from Kingston to Heathrow, stopping a stone's throw from her school on the way.

The 11-year-old joined runner-up Aditya Narayan, 10, and third-placed Sreeya Daruri, nine, on a trip to Hounslow bus garage last week, where all three were presented with certificates and model buses to take away.

Nigel Harris, general manager of the garage, run by London United, said: "I was really pleased we were able to work with the school and involve the children. It is important for us as a garage and as a company to interact with the community we serve."

The Year of the Bus commemorates the centenary of the world's first mass-produced motor bus, the B-Type 'Battle Bus' which carried soldiers to the front line during the First World War. It also marks 60 years since the creation of the iconic Routemaster bus.
