AN ENTERPRISING 12-year-old boy has invented a mobile phone application to help fight HS2 and wants as many people as possible to download it to show their support.
Edward Aboud of Little Chalfont, heard about the Government's proposal to build the controversial £33bn route through the Chilterns following a debate at school and felt compelled to act.
The youngster joined forces with friends to form the stop HS2 group and put their plan into action last year.
Then a pupil at Chesham Preparatory School, he and best friend Ben Dent worked with other school friends to form The Chesham Prep Stop HS2 Group and put their plan into action.
Since then he has sent an online petition to the Prime Minister and has set up the app which he has made available for your phone, iPod Touch and iPad.
The group are called the Junior Bucks Stop HS2 Organisation and the 12-year-old and his friends have continued the campaign and hope that everyone affected by the plans will download his app.
Edward said: "Although our organisation only has four people, we still managed to collect 100 anti-HS2 petition signatures and we posted them to David Cameron.
"After I sent the petition I received a letter from the Department for Transport explaining that they were listening to people's views and deciding whether HS2 should go ahead or not.
"The Government has now decided that HS2 will go ahead, but many campaigners have said that the Government might change their mind, like when there was a proposal for a new runway to be built at Heathrow, so that's why we are continuing with our campaign."
He added: "The app has had around 650 downloads so far."
