The Green party's parliamentary candidate for Harrow East has vowed to fight public service cuts if she is elected.

School librarian and community activist Emma Wallace will stand in May's general election, and has pledged to fight proposed cuts to libraries, health services and children's centres. She will also push for more affordable housing to be built in the borough to ensure Harrow continues to be a place families can call home.

Her campaign also includes protecting green spaces, encouraging pedestrian and cycle friendly zones and work towards tackling air pollution.

Ms Wallace who has lived in the borough for five years, said: "I am proud to have been selected for Harrow East and would aim to make sure the borough continues to be a dynamic, open and multicultural place to live.

"The Green Party is committed to fighting social inequality and injustice and I would work to represent all living in the borough, not just the privileged few.

"I would oppose the proposed fracking in the borough, focusing instead on investment in renewable energy sources and the development of energy efficient buildings. I believe passionately in the importance of protecting the environment and would work towards making Harrow a green and healthy London borough."

The seat is currently held by Conservative Bob Blackman MP.
