A HEADTEACHER is celebrating her Pimlico school's achievement in delivering arts education to pupils.

St Matthew's CofE School, in Old Pye Street, has been awarded the Artsmark Gold standard by Arts Council England, in recognition of the school's commitment to the arts.

Headteacher Nicola Cottier said: "Our students have really enjoyed working with a wide variety of arts specialists.

"I'd like to thank all our staff, led so enthusiastically by Emily Norman, deputy head and creative arts team leader and James Hearn, our musical maestro, for their hard work in achieving this award.

A school must dedicate a minimum of 10 per cent of its curricular teaching time to the arts to receive an Artsmark.
