A FUN run raised money for Cancer Research after energetic schoolchildren, along with parents, teachers and carers, ran 2km for charity.
Pupils from Weald Junior School, in Robin Hood Drive, Harrow Weald, got their trainers on and got running on Thursday last week as a part of their sports week, a continuation of their Olympics Week held last year.
The money raised is still being counted, but one year five girl managed to collect £135 for the charity in sponsorship.
Year six teacher and sports coordinator Azra Hussain, who has worked at the school since 2009, said: “It was a fantastic day and the kids really loved it. We had some walking, some jogging and some running, so everyone was able to take part.
“Everyone pitched in, with the school’s PTA providing the refreshments and donating all their profits towards Cancer Research. Local branches of Lloyds TSB and Tesco provided the medals, cups, fruit and water.
“It was really nice to see children running with their parents and carers, and our teaching assistants were on hand to make sure everyone crossed the roads safely.”
