Scarecrows needed – no experience necessary!

Harlington Hospice is gearing up for its Summer Fayre, and organisers have put our an appeal for scarecrows for a competition as part of the festivities.

Trustee, Catherine Hepplethwaite said: “There is a vegetable patch in our garden where we have an ‘Aunt Sally’ scarecrow and would love her to have a friend.”

Any social and community groups, schools, scout and guide movement units or individuals can present their scarecrow. There will be a prize for the best, which will live permanently in the hospice garden.

The hospice in St Peter’s Way, Harlington, is celebrating its 30th anniversary, so that might influence your design.

Scarecrows need to be delivered to the hospice by 5pm on June 20, ready for the Fayre on June 28. Entries must be registered in advance, by emailing cheppelthwaite@yahoo.com by May 30.

Volunteers are also needed to help run the Fayre, prizes for the tombola would be welcome and if anyone has a few spare gazebos that could be used on the day, please email Ms Hepplethwaite.
