It would seem that the main worry about Tesco coming to Tolworth is the impact on traffic. This is always heavy and further loading will, without doubt, cause major problems.

However, those who are fans of having the store seem to have forgotten two other aspects.

Firstly, Kingston Council is currently scrabbling to find places to build two new schools because it has underestimated the number of places required. Both sites suggested are under fire and their positioning questioned. If families come to live in the housing accommodation at the Tesco block, should not the council be thinking of a third school or enlarging those already envisaged?

Perhaps if Tesco found ways of addressing these points, then the scheme might be viable once the transport problem was solved. Until then, I still feel that the answer to an organisation wanting to foist itself on Tolworth and the surrounding area without doing anything positive should be an emphatic NO!

By the way, how many of the apartments would be affordable homes?
