A SALES executive has won £27,000 in damages from his employer four years after injuring his leg.

Quentin Martin, 55, of Field End Road, remains on painkillers and was told he would never fully recover from the broken thighbone he suffered when he slipped on a clear sheet of plastic that was left on the floor of the company he worked for in August 2007.

Mr Martin was signed off work for five months and needed a metal pin inserted in his leg, but had to battle to receive compensation from his employer.

Larry Shaw, an employers liability expert with Fentons solicitors, who represented Mr Martin, said: “Quentin was discharged with a walking stick after a week.

“He was unable to bear his full weight on his injured leg and he spent the next six weeks recovering at home unable to stand or walk without being in considerable pain.

“He is still unable to walk for any length of time without feeling pain, fatigue and weakness, yet despite these ongoing symptoms, he is pleased that after more than four years his case is finally over.”
