Neighbours objections to plans for a sports bar to open until 3am at weekends were listened to by Hillingdon Council's licensing sub-committee.

It rejected an application from The Clubhouse, at Middlesex Stadium, in Breakspear Road,  Ruislip to vary its premises licence.

Minutes of the sub-committee's meeting on October 3 state: "The extension of licensing hours would cause an unacceptable impact to residents and harm the Premises' ability to uphold the licencing objective that was to prevent a public nuisance."

But the sub-committee, chaired by Conservative councillor Dominic Gilham, decided to grant the applicant, venue manager Harpreet Dhand, of Astro1 Ltd, permission to create a new entrance lobby area - which Mr Dhand said would act as a sound barrier - and permission to host 'adult entertainment for stag and hen parties' less than once per month.

Before the meeting, people unhappy at the prospect of longer opening hours dubbed the proposal ‘a change of use from a football club to a nightclub’.

Mildred Colleett wrote: “The provision of live/DJ music and an increased number of persons using the venue will definitely be a nuisance to the neighbouring properties.”

But now that it has been refused, The Clubhouse will carry on licensable activities until midnight, with half an hour’s drinking up time, as it has done since April 2011.

The Clubhouse is now operated as a private venture but was once the members-only bar for  Hillingdon Borough FC , who still play their home games at the stadium.
