A 100-year-old was treated like a queen for the day by her family and friends as part of her birthday celebrations.

Jessie Coward, of Wallis House, Cottage Close, Ruislip, was joined by 50 of her closest friends and family members, including relatives she had never met before, to mark her special day on April 19.

Her neighbour and friend, Ted Webber, 90, said: "The party was organised by her niece, Julie, and we had some old music from a DJ called Stan the Man.

"I think she enjoyed the party and being treated like a queen for the day.

"She was really chuffed with the letter she received from the Queen."
