Parents from Hillingdon borough got to meet inspirational mum-to-be Katie Piper during her whistlestop visit to Hayes.

A heavily pregnant Miss Piper gave a talk on what to expect when you're expecting at the Kiddicare superstore, at the Lombardy Retail Park in Coldharbour Lane on Friday last week.

Miss Piper, expecting a girl, is a Kiddicare ambassador.

Hundreds attended the talk, and ten lucky people were chosen to meet Katie after the show. Among them was teacher Katie Jayasekera, 26 and from Ruislip Manor, who brought along her four-week-old daughter, Freya, and got a picture with the special guest.

Mrs Jayasekera said: "I have followed her story by watching the documentary (Katie: My Beautiful Face) and have read her book recently too. She really is an inspirational person. Having recently become a mum myself, it was interesting to listen and relate to her experience of being pregnant.

"She is so lovely, very friendly. Katie asked us for advice and tips about birth and being a mum. It was nice that she seemed to gain something from the talk as well."

Katie was the victim of an acid attack in 2008, and has since set up the Katie Piper Foundation for burns victims. She is also a TV personality.
