A Ruislip mum was thrilled to win an award for her "outstanding commitment and work ethic".

Nikolett Vegh was voted the winner of the prestigious Student of the Year Award by the London College of Beauty Therapy (LCBT), the UK’s largest specialist-funded Beauty Training college.

Ms Vegh said she could not be “more proud” to be a student at LCBT.

She added: “Becoming the LCBT Student of the Year is a great honour, it is what every student dreams of.

“My advice to other students is to set your goals and let nothing or no one stop you from achieving them. With hard work, dedication and the willpower to learn, at LCBT it is certainly achievable.”

After completing a Level 2 Diploma in Beauty Therapy, Ms Vegh, was offered a job at Salon 155, in South Ruislip.

The single mum-of-two had to change paths “for the better”, as her original career in hospitality had unsociable working hours.

Ms Vegh hopes to one day open her own business and has hopes to develop her own beauty brand.

She added: “The people behind my achievements are my two sons and I want to do something big in my life for their future.”

The honour was awarded to Ms Vegh at a ceremony in central London on June 5.
