Waste and recycling collections by Hillingdon Council will change slightly over the Christmas period.
Rubbish collections will take place as normal on Monday, December 23 and on Christmas Eve
After that, all 'black bag' waste, garden waste, mixed dry recycling, textile recycling and food recycling will be collected on the following, revised dates:
Normal collection day Revised collection day
Wednesday, December 25 Friday, December 27
Thursday, December 26 Thursday, January 2
Friday, December 27 Friday, January 3
Monday, December 30 Monday, December 30
Tuesday, December 31 Tuesday, December 31
Wednesday, January 1 Wednesday, January 8
Services return to normal from Thursday, January 2.
There will be no Christmas break in the collection of garden waste in the borough, as in previous years.
Because of the time of year, some people may find that they have more food waste than will fit into their external green bins, and if so, should temporarily go back to using black bags for food waste, says the council.
If placed in black bags, food waste should always be wrapped securely, and the black bags tied tightly to discourage scavenging by animals. Bags should not be placed outside before collection day, unless in a closed container such as a bin.
