A TEA party was held for a dinner lady who has kept watch over the playground of a South Harrow school for more than three decades.
Past and present pupils, staff and governors gave Grace Sayer, 64, a celebratory send-off at Roxbourne Middle School in Torbay Road on Tuesday last week.
Headteacher Richard Cokayne said: "Grace has worked for us for 35 years. She's a really dedicated person and has travelled here on the bus from Wealdstone every day.
"She helped the parents of the current children, who also came here."
Mrs Sayer said: "I was sorry to go but I had to on medical grounds, earlier than I really wanted to.
"I have many happy memories of the school. The children make the job, to be honest.
"The tea party was quite an emotional day. I've seen lots of teachers come and go."
