As per usual, whenever any letters from the Ann Keen fan-club appear in the local press, the authors are very selective about the 'facts' they choose to present.

The latest offering 'Dukes Opening is a Credit to MP Keen' (January 1, 2009) is no exception.

It asks us to believe that Ann Keen is being unfairly treated by Hounslow Council because she merely 'voiced her concerns' about a serving councillor.

For the record, Mrs Keen and her husband wrote an extremely hostile letter to the leader of Hounslow Council just after the last local election, threatening to withhold their co-operation while a certain councillor remained a member of the executive panel and this was widely reported at the time.

In other words, a democratically elected representative sought to exert pressure to deselect another democratically elected representative.

It was a blatant abuse of power and an act of genuine nastiness many will not forget.

Yes, roll on 2010, some people are clearly outstaying their welcome.
