A ROGUE builder and his son who conned an elderly woman in Hillingdon out of thousands of pounds has been jailed for over three years.

Billy Smith, 39, of Mansion Lane, Iver, was sentenced to three years and nine months in jail at Reading Crown Court after he pleaded guilty to seven separate counts of fraud.

His son Riley Smith, 20, of Leatherhead, was given a two year suspended sentence and 200 hours of community service.

Detectives from Thames Valley Police established that between September 2005 and June last year, Billy Smith visited the home of an elderly woman in Hillingdon, up to 15 times to carry out building work, for which he charged between £5,000 and £7,000.

In addition to this, the pair conned elderly victims from Walton-on-Thames, Bracknell, and Christchurch, Dorset out of several thousands of pounds in similar scams.

Police described the crimes as 'despicable' and asked further victims to come forward by contacting Thames Valley Police on 0845 8 505 505.
