New scaffolding is being put up at the fire-ravaged Royal British Legion club in Hounslow so rebuilding work can begin.

Two-way traffic lights are in place outside the building in Whitton Road from today until May 30, while the scaffolding goes up, and drivers have been warned to expect delays.

The building was badly damaged by a huge blaze in March but RBL Hounslow chairman Andre McGill recently told getwestlondon most of the brickwork was intact and restoration could take as little as nine months.

Legion members have still not been able to get inside the building to assess the damage to memorabilia within but Mr McGill said this should be possible once the new scaffolding has been erected.
