The controlled parking zone article in the Gazette of January 23 highlights the horrendous parking problems we now have on the roads bordering the Ealing Dean CPZ since it came into operation in June 2008.

However, it does not mention how badly it affects residents with young children, the elderly; and an even bigger problem is how unsafe these roads have become.

In the mornings vast numbers of commuter cars circle the area looking for a parking space for the day. Cars are now frequently parked close to corners and block driveways, which makes for hazardous driving conditions. It's now difficult and dangerous to cross the road.

Residents with young children have been badly affected by the displaced parking problem. If they move their cars to get to schools or shops the space is immediately used by a commuter. When they return they have to park streets away and carry shopping and ferry young children.

The decision on where to site the boundary of the CPZ seems to have been poorly thought out. While the roads on the CPZ border are now overcrowded and dangerous, some roads in the zone remain virtually empty all day.

It is just a matter of time before these new parking arrangements cause a serious accident. I hope this situation is resolved before then.
