CELEBRATIONS have been marked at St Dominic's Sixth Form college after it saw a rise in the number of A*, A and B grades achieved.

While the number of pupils attaining the top A* and A marks followed the national trend by dropping slightly on last year at the college in Mount Park Road, Harrow On The Hill.

Headteacher Andrew Parkin welcomed an increase in the number of A*, A and B grades from his pupils.

“We’re very pleased. It’s testament to how hard they worked,” said Mr Parking, who took over the headship in January.

“I know there’s accusations of dumbing down but I think A-levels are still very difficult and are real benchmark qualifications.”
