THE South Ruislip branch of Argos that was targeted by looters during the August riots has reopened after a refurbishment.

Staff at the retailer in Victoria Retail Park wore a range of bizarre wigs in a charity fundraising event to celebrate the store’s new look.

They raised hundreds of pounds for the Teenage Cancer Trust through the hair-raising stunt on Saturday.

Store manager Becky Kennett said: “We are very proud to have opened our new-look store, which will create an even better shopping experience for our customers. Saturday was a great start for us and it also gave us the opportunity to give something back and raise money for our charity partner.”

The store, which now has touch-screen browsers and quick-pay kiosks, is supporting the maintenance of the Teenage Cancer Trust’s unit at University College Hospital.
