I read with interest your article reporting £56,000 that had been reallocated from providing a safe play area for local children and using it for the relaying of the bowling green in Fassnidge Park.

All this week, the public has had national press and news programmes emphasising the problem

of obesity among children in the London area due to a lack of recreational facilities.

It would appear the priority for the environmental planners is to ensure the Green Flag parks in the borough retain their status, while the children who badly need a play area will have to wait until a piece of land becomes available before they can have a place for recreation.

Perhaps it would be in the interests of the children for the committee concerned to review this decision and get the planners to work harder to allocate a small piece of land for this facility.
