WE ARE concerned about the leaked NHS report (Gazette, February 19) that indicates that up to six A&E units in North West London could be threatened with closure.

Reports that because of the £5billion NHS London funding deficit Ealing Hospital may lose not only its A&E but also its maternity unit and children's services department compound our fears for the future of the hospital.

We realise that this is an early stage in the planning process but we believe that local residents need to speak out now before irreversible decisions are made. Do Ealing's residents value their local A&E departments?

Do you want to see fewer centralised services or would you prefer them to be more local? These plans will inevitably lead to elderly and infirm patients having to travel further to access essential health care.

We have already seen Ealing Hospital's stroke unit axed. With these other services threatened, there are serious concerns over the future of Ealing Hospital itself.

We are both committed to fighting to defend our local health services. Please email, or write to us at the address below if you would like to support our campaign.
