PATIENTS can have their say on GP boundaries under a new consultation which launched earlier this month.
NHS Hillingdon is encouraging residents to respond to the Department of Health’s consultation on registering with a GP practice of their choice.
Currently, people have to live within a GP practice's catchment area to be able to register with it. These boundaries were put in place when the NHS was created in 1948.
Now, the Government is looking at options to change this, so people can choose a GP practice that best suits their needs.
Most people will want a GP practice that is near where they live, but others may want to choose a practice because it has longer opening hours or has different services available.
You can find out more about the consultation- which runs until May 28, and have your say, by visiting the Department of Health website at www.gpchoice.dh.gov.uk
