THE head of a residents’ association that has enriched the lives of people in West Ealing said he is honoured to have been nominated.
David Highton, chairman of West Ealing Neighbours, has been put forward for an Ealing Gazette Pride in Our People Award in the Community Champion category.
One of the most high profile residents’ groups in the borough, WEN has co-ordinated a number of campaigns and regularly organises meetings and events to unite the community.
One recent victory was a successful campaign for improved safety at the lido crossing in West Ealing, one of the most dangerous junctions in the borough.
Mr Highton, 60, said: “It’s a great honour and very flattering. I never expected to get anything for doing this, I just wanted to do something for West Ealing. As far as I’m concerned, making life better for people is the be-all and end-all.”
He was nominated by West Ealing resident Neena Panesar, who praised his efforts in organising many different initiatives.
