AN ELECTRICAL repair centre in Hammersmith emerged with its reputation very much intact after an undercover investigation by journalists.

The specialist photographic retailer PIX4 in West 12 was the only store to take a laptop, discover the problem, fix it and return it to the owner at no charge.

They were hailed as 'an honest firm' by Sky News, who carried out the investigation by taking a laptop installed with secret cameras and spy software, rigged with a simple, easily detectable fault.

Manager of Pix4, Steve John, said: "We are predominantly a photographic centre, but also offer technical support to people and it is important for them to know they can trust us to diagnose problems quickly and not snoop into their private files."

Four other stores were filmed as part of the sting, snooping into private files to copy log-in details and misdiagnosing faults to overcharge for unnecessary work.
